On December 23-24, 2023, Guangxi Key Laboratory of Mangrove Protection and Utilization held the Second Meeting of the Third Academic Committee and 2023 Annual Meeting online (Tencent Conference No. 263-370-683), with all 13 members attending the meeting. Prof. Zhang Yihui (Jieqing), Director of the Academic Committee, chaired the meeting. The Academic Committee listened to the report on the progress of the laboratory's work in 2023, fund topics, and discipline development planning, commented on the annual work of the laboratory, and considered the laboratory's fund topics for project establishment and closure. The opinions are as follows:

1. this year, the laboratory has achieved excellent results in serving the national and local technical support and other aspects, especially the ecological design and supervision of the construction of the ecological construction case of Hongsha ring seawall in Xiban, Fangchenggang, which has been selected as one of the eight cases of the global ecological disaster mitigation synergy in the coastal zone, and its influence has been significantly enhanced.

2. Agreed to close 4 systematic topics and 2 open fund topics.

Members suggested: 1. to further strengthen the supporting role of the Key Laboratory to innovation bases and cooperative science and technology companies. 2. to optimize the financial budget structure of the relying units, and to include the Open Fund of the Key Laboratory into the annual financial special budget. 3. to further strengthen the international exchanges of the Key Laboratory, and to improve the international visibility of the laboratory's innovative achievements.
